Lucky 8 horses for Sucess a Chinese Painting Demo by Henry Li

Sunday, February 12th, 2012

chinese painting ink Eight is a lucky number in Chinese because Fa(fortune) and Ba(8) are same pronounciation in Cantonese and other regional dialects. Lucky Eight Horses has been a favorite theme in Chinese painting. I did this in a CNY’s festival at a local mall to repress my good wishes for the Year of Rabbit.
In the beginning, I was thinking to do all the horses racing forward as seen in most “eight horse” Chinese paintings, but I made the second horse backword accidentally, so I changed my mind to set them the ranch instead.

This is bugging me and i need to know how!?

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

Look, I am not a person who believes in magic or any of that sort of thing to be real, so I am asking again about my friend Lisa because i need some logical answers to all this annoyingly crazy trick she does. I know it sounds obsessed and crazy but i started writing down a list of the strange things about her and the weird things she does.
1) She brought an ant back to life, or at least nursed it back to health in like 10 seconds with a bottle of water
2) made me a professionally done pretend home made birthday card (somehow during the morning even though i was with her the whole time) written from my parents (her writing) and flowers because I told her they didn’t get me anything. she has said when i told her "That’s horrible! I will make up for them somehow today!" She just pulled them out of her school bag and handed it to me saying"happy birthday from your parents!" then laughed and continued to do her maths work
3) She has this weird thing i have been testing (without her knowing) where i can ask for any strange object and she will have it on her or in her bag, so far i have managed to borrow from her; a dream catcher, a capo, 5 tennis balls (she doesn’t play) a chinese fan, moisturizer, a towel, a frame, a microphone, surgical gloves, a yo-yo, a deck of cards, a spare school jacket, a painting set (brushes and panel thing) (then she got suspicious and i waited a while) bu after that i asked and she gave again, nomatter how random!
4) She has a perfect singing voice but only when she thinks noboddy can hear her, as soon as we are in music or in public she becomes tone deaf (or atleast pretends to be) but i have heard her by herself and it is absolutally perfect, not a missed note and a huge range
5) No matter what song you mention to her she will know the lyrics, i was especially surprised when she knew all the words to Ana Ng
6) She pretends to be very unco, but she sometimes slips up and jumps abnormally high or runs abnormally fast if someone is hurt or in danger (we set that up to see what she would do)
7) She is very smart but fakes her tests, she got like 74% in maths but when we were studying for it she knew everything and was helping me with questions she "got wrong" in the test

I know this is paranoid rambling, but hear me out

8) She lives in a huge house and has like 10000 cars and a tv the size of a wall but nobody would have guessed her to be rich, she has never mentioned anything of the sort and acts nothing like that
9) On wednesday 2 weeks ago, we were sitting in history and our teacher revealed that we had a surprise test, she then looked upset and grumbled softly to herself (i could just hear) "no we dont have a test, i think i’ll do it next week" THEN THE TEACHER CHANGED HER MIND AND PUT IT NEXT WEEK!! WTH!!
10) She is hardly ever at school, but noboddy seems to notice and her attendance record is spotless, When i ask where she has been, she just says something like "I was sick, but i’ll all better now :)" and refuses to add to the conversation, i dont ever think i have seen her sick before anyway.
11) LAST ONE: At sleepovers (and i didn’t notice till back mentioned it) she hasnt been seen sleeping, she is allways awake and doing something when other people wake up and she is first up in the morning, sometimes i would stay up jus to see if she would, but she doesnt at all and usually i fall asleep and wake up with another blanket on me.

I would continue but you get the point, i never noticed these things before because I never payed that much attention to her and her antics, but now that i am, its starting to become more impossible to figure out. There are tons of things she has done that i overlook,

someone please explain before i go completely insane

… you think i should ask her?
Guys, seriously i honestly dont believe its supernatural (mostly because i dont believe that exasts :P), and no she is not a vampire, i havent read this "twilight" but from what i have heard they dont eat, and lisa eats as much as us. Also i dont know how to pick best answer yet (i am new at this) but the guy who tried to debunk made alot of sense, her dad has very high expectations, she plays like 11 instruments, which explains her musical knowledge. maybe she is just good at things and hides it so she doesnt put people’s hopes up. I think that makes the most sense to be honest. Maybe i am just reading into her behaviour a little to much, i mean i haven know her more then 2 years (she moves alot) but she seems like a really really nice person and i dont want to freak her out by going up to her and asking, are you doing these neato tricks? she would probably say, "i have noo idea what you are talking about" anyway. Maybe she is just a little different, but i like that :)

Either you are saying all this to tease us or you are serious. I am going to assume the latter for the sake of argument.

First of all, if you are close friends, ask her for real. Pull her aside and ask her seriously. If you are not, than just make it into a joke when your talking with friends, say something like "Lisa sometimes I think you a witch or something". But say it playfully.

Other than that, I think I can debunk a few of these circumstances you have mentioned. It is likely she could be a magician playing pranks on you but here are some of them anyways.

1. It could of been a fake ant, because no matter how really it looked, I have seen some pretty crazy magic shows.

2. She could of planned that out with your parents.

3. I’m stumped. She’s a witch. lol.

4. Could be just not wanting to shine. Some people don’t like what there parents expect of them so they purposefully disappoint them.

5. Probably a music freak. To test this, make up any song and write it down, but don’t tell ANYONE else. Than make up a random singers name and see if she knows the lyrics. If she does: See answer 3 above.

6. Probably just adrenaline.

7. See number 4 above.

8. Probably just a modest person. That also probably explains the trying to disappoint her parents also. Some times the higher class younger generations have trouble reaching expectations so the purposefully disappoint them.

9. She could be an extremely skilled hypnotist, or she already knew that would happen. AKA, might be a physic.

10. She could just hack the system.

11. Some people just don’t need a lot of sleep. I know that sounds dumb, but thats the best I can think of.

Overall, it sounds like she is really smart. And I do believe that some people have a kind of sixth sense, which could explain a lot of the ones about her knowing things. The ones about things she physically does, are kind of creepy, but pretty debunkable.

Old animated movie that involved a magical paintbrush?

Monday, February 6th, 2012

I know for a fact that this movie HAS to be older than 1996, because I saw commercials on the tape it was recorded on for Teddy Ruxpin, some weird caterpillar game, and that Easy Bake Oven. All I can recall is that a poor boy and his sister try to make ends meet and the boy loves to paint and draw and gets a paint brush that makes things come to life. At one point his sister gets really sick and he tries to paint her picture but when he does the image shows her as getting sicker and sicker. I recall there was an evil man at one point who I think orders the boy to paint gold coins for him, which the boy does but in the end the man dies on a ship or something. And I remember seeing a monkey in the film as well as the boy having yellow hair and resembling the clothing that Oliver Twist might have worn: a vest and one of those interesting caps. And a rainbow here and there I think. It’s been about 13yrs since I last saw this film but I remember watching it alot. Any tips as to what movie this is will be helpful.

PS.(It’s not the Chinese Paintbrush or whatever it’s called. It was all voice in english but I can’t remember if it was a British or an American film).

Check "The Magic Paintbrush"

can you help me with this picture?

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

i found it covered with dust.where at first i thought it was a piece of wood.the frame i can tell is old.probably from the 1960s or so.but the picture is of what appears china or its at least looks like someone took a paint brush and dotted the scene shows in the left upper corner a chinese type red tower in a valley between 2 mountains.on the right it seems to be a bay with a bunch of chinese type sail boats in it.and on the beach someone with cattle on it.its not very detailed because of the type of way it was done.but in the right hand lower corner it has KANER on it and below that this kaner person signed it.i just cannot make out the first name of this kaner person.can you help?
how am i supposed to scan something thats 2 and a half feet by 2 feet?

How on earth do you imagine anyone can help you without even SEEING that picture?
If you want any chance at all, I’d suggest you scan and upload it.
